Sunrise of Fleet’s Deputy Manager Shares Her Nursing Journey

To celebrate Nurses Day 2021, Cristy Jones, Deputy Manager and Nurse at Sunrise of Fleet, shares her nursing journey.

Cristy Jones has been a nurse for 15 years, after first training in the Philippines.

When she moved to the UK, Cristy started her career at Sunrise of Fleet caring for residents in the Memory Care Neighbourhood.

She says that this opportunity made her feel like she was part of the Sunrise of Fleet family which was something she was missing being thousands of miles away from her own relatives in the Philippines.

At one point in her career, Cristy had to make the decision of whether to continue her career at Sunrise or to work on the wards in a hospital setting. She says it was clear to her then that she wanted to remain part of the Sunrise family and decided to continue supporting the Wellness Team at Fleet.

Cristy has also had experience working at Sunrise of Westbourne when she relocated, a time in her life she says she really enjoyed. She then moved back to Fleet when she successfully got the role of Deputy Manager, with nine years of service at Sunrise now under her belt.

Asked what she loves most about her job as a nurse, Cristy said that it’s the ability to “really make a difference in someone’s day, it is such a life-enriching experience that I am honoured to be part of.”

Speaking of Cristy’s career at Sunrise, Kara Hooper, General Manager of Sunrise of Fleet, said:

“I have known Cristy for 12 years now. Cristy is one of the most caring, kind and compassionate people I have ever met. Not only is she passionate about her role with Sunrise of Fleet, she is also a great friend to many, including myself.

“Nothing is ever too much trouble for Cristy, and she has the safety and welling of our team and our residents at the forefront of everything she does.

“Cristy is an asset to Sunrise and I feel very lucky to have her as part of our wonderful team.”

One resident at the home said:

“Cristy is very approachable, nothing is too much trouble for her. I also find her very informative and knowledgeable.”
