Sunrise of Tettenhall Resident Celebrates 100th Birthday

Sunrise of Tettenhall resident, Beryl Hamilton, was born on 15th February 1921 and was raised in Coseley. She recently celebrated her 100th birthday in style at the care home.

Beryl attended Bilston Girls High School and went on to work at a drawing office to assist with planning and designing local construction projects. Beryl met her late-husband, Eric, at Tipton swimming baths, and they married when she was 20 years old. Beryl and Eric had two children, a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.

Throughout her life, Beryl’s hobbies have included being part of Townswomen’s Guild (TG) which is now the second largest British women’s organisation, and being a part of the West Midlands Federation. Beryl was also bench for the West Bromwich Magistrates.

Beryl moved to Sunrise of Tettenhall in 2019, aged 98. At 100 years old, her top tips for staying fabulous are:

“Always help others, don’t worry about what people say about you and be happy and content with what you have.”

Beryl added:

“I don’t feel 100 at all so I don’t know what all this fuss is about, but I was very happy to receive my telegram from the Queen.”

Jazz Lalli, Director of Community Relations at Sunrise of Tettenhall, said:

“It was a pleasure to be a part of Beryl’s 100th birthday celebrations. All the team at Sunrise of Tettenhall made sure she felt very special, she had balloons, lots of cards and a very big cake to mark the occasion. Beryl is a fabulous woman and she inspires us all!”
