Sunrise of Solihull
Meet our team
One of the reasons why every Sunrise home is much more than just a care home is the team of people working there. Every hour of every day, Sunrise team members are working to make sure that our residents enjoy life as fully as possible.
Here are just a few of the people you’ll find at your local Sunrise care home.
Heather James, General Manager
I qualified as a registered nurse and spent the early part of my career working in the NHS. I graduated from Birmingham University with an Msc in Health Care Policy and Management. I have worked as an NHS Modern Matron, managed multiple sites and worked as General Manager for Community Services in Birmingham.
I made the transition to the Private Sector in 2014 when I was appointed as General Manager at Sunrise of Edgbaston. I am delighted to now be working at Sunrise of Solihull as General Manager as it gives me the opportunity to lead a team delivering excellent, quality care to some very special seniors.
The team and I are committed to hard work and dedication in order to serve the residents and ensure that the community represents caring and compassionate care within a beautiful environment at Solihull.
Mussarat Ashraf, Deputy Manager
My journey started with Sunrise Senior living of Edgbaston in 2006, as a founder team member. Throughout my 14 years of service within Sunrise I have had the opportunity to work in a variety of roles starting as a Care Assistant and progressed to Deputy Manager. Whilst at Sunrise I qualified as a nurse and I knew in my heart that this is where I belonged as Sunrise became a part of my family. I am thrilled to now be working with my new family at Sunrise of Solihull as it gives me the opportunity to work alongside such caring and professional colleagues and such amazing seniors. I am proud to be a part of such a prestige organisation and take pride in working alongside Sunrise's core values and principle of service, ensuring our residents receive quality care promoting well being. Our Mission to Champion the Quality of Life for all seniors remains a central point in my heart.
Jo Hopkins, Director of Community Relations
My role within Sunrise of Solihull is to help and support families who are looking into care and a new home for their loved ones. This can be an upsetting time for all involved and may be a whole world they may never have explored before, so it is absolutely essential that we listen and capture the needs and individuality of the new potential resident, whilst offering the family reassurance and trust. The end result seeing their loved one move in, settle and be happy - and the positive impact this has on the whole family is extremely rewarding. It's a real privilege to be a part of the team at Solihull and getting to know all the wonderful residents.
Kirsty Bird, Reminiscence Co-ordinator
I have worked at Sunrise for 7 years as a Senior Care Assistant in the Reminiscence neighbourhood. I have recently taken the Reminiscence Co-ordinator role on permanently after completing maternity cover and will continue managing the care and the staff to the best of my ability.
Samantha Birks, Activities and Volunteers Co-ordinator
I started work with Sunrise at our Edgbaston community working in various roles. In 2014 I moved to Solihull as Activities and Volunteers Co-ordinator. I am a qualified florist with a love of gardens and flowers and have taken a keen interest in the beautiful gardens we enjoy here at Solihull, starting a hugely popular gardening club.
I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know the residents, their individual likes and dislikes as well as the interesting lives many of them have led.
