Sunrise of Sonning
Meet our team
One of the reasons why every Sunrise home is much more than just a care home is the team of people working there. Every hour of every day, Sunrise team members are working to make sure that our residents enjoy life as fully as possible.
Here are just a few of the people you’ll find at your local Sunrise care home.
Carmela Magbitang, General Manager
I joined the team in May 2015 having worked in the healthcare industry for many years. I am extremely passionate about delivering exceptional person-centred care to our residents and ensuring the highest standards of care are met. I am proud to be the General Manager and thoroughly enjoy working with our residents, their families and the entire care team at Sunrise of Sonning.
Sue Johnstone, Deputy Manager
I joined Sunrise of Sonning in November 2018. I have a BA and MA in Health and Nursing Studies from Reading University. I worked as a district nurse and manager for NHS North West Reading and I as a district nurse community practice teacher, training district nursing students. I have always enjoyed nursing and caring for people in their own homes and coming to Sunrise has enables me to care for many residents in one home.
Janet Alibaya, Assisted Living Co-ordinator
I am delighted to be the Assisted Living Co-ordinator here at Sunrise of Sonning and I will lead by example as well as I promote compassion and an understanding that we can all provide an excellent service and show respect for all. My background has been in healthcare, and includes working as a Senior Carer for 8 years and a year as the Assistant Manager of a Nursing Home. I enjoy supporting, leading and helping my fantastic team of staff along with getting to know each and every resident here at Sunrise of Sonning.
Ian Duldulao, Reminiscence Co-ordinator
I originally joined sunrise in 2016 as a Senior Carer in reminiscence. I then worked my way up to Reminiscence coordinator. My background is in nursing and I have worked the last 16 years in social care. I relish in providing care for people in a dignified and respectful way, when they need it most. I am privileged to work with and be part of such an amazing team, who bring so much joy and happiness to the residents we care for. My passion and goal in life is to care for others and support them to live well with their Dementia.
Georgina Williams, Activities and Volunteers Co-ordinator
I manage the wide range of clubs, hobbies, entertainers, live music, outings, guest speakers and exercise classes we have on offer at Sonning. With input from the residents my team also holds regular family events and social evenings.
Having such a variety allows the residents to pick and choose what they wish to be involved in.
Adriano Carvalho, Dining Service Co-ordinator
I joined Sunrise Senior Living in 2014, transferring to Gracewell Healthcare in 2017. Previous experience includes working as Catering Manager for a group of care homes in Dorset, and as a chef at Poole Hospital. I qualified in Special Diets and Nutrition and have a good knowledge of Clinical Nutrition and Health Sciences. I am passionate about preparing and presenting appetising dishes for those on special diets, but also love baking and cooking traditional homemade meals. Seeing the residents enjoy my food is what gives me the greatest happiness.
Nathalie McLeish, Director of Community Relations
I Joined Sunrise Senior Living in 2012. I am the first point of contact for both seniors and their families inquiring about care options. The most rewarding aspect is supporting families and seniors and being able to guide and counsel them on what can be an emotional experience. I feel privileged to help in the journey towards making the decision to join our community.
Benedict Poskaitis, Associate Director of Community Relations
As Associate Director of Community Relations, the key part of my role is to support residents and their families through the emotional journey of choosing Sunrise as their next home. My aim is to ensure that every step of the process is smooth, effortless and stress-free. This role is very rewarding as it involves assisting people with the making of a very big decision and I get to witness the happy faces of the new residents upon their arrival.
